There is a sharp rise in US pedestrian deaths has been partly blamed on people using their smart-phone while driving or crossing road.
According to the US governors Highway Safety Association that there were 6,000 pedestrian deaths in 2016, which is a highest record in last 20 years. There are numbers of factors to blame, including mobile use. The recent factor was due to the increase in pedestrian fatalities may be the growing use of smart-phones by all users, which can be a significant source of distraction for both drivers and pedestrians. Other factors include all increasing driving, and due t improved economy, lower petrol prices and more walking for exercise and environmental causes.
Alcohol is also blamed for many accidents as 34% of pedestrians and 15% of drivers involved in fatal crashes being intoxicated at the time.
According to all reports the mobile phones are dangerously distracting. More and more teenagers and young adult are being injured as the result of distraction as the result of crossing roads while using their mobile phones. This may be a result o crossing while using their phone. This can be as a result of having a conversation, or listening to music, while texting or using internet said by safety road manager. Some cities around the world are taking the count of smart-phone distraction. Social media, games, WhatsApp and music are major distraction in traffic. Some countries rewarded these persons as “bad behavior on road”.
