Nikon announced its new KeyMission line of shooters on Monday, while entering into the world of 360 degree and action camera business.
The KeyMission 360 priced at US$499.95, can corral 360 degree video in 4K UHD at 24p, along with the more traditional HD 1080p. Also it has 30 megapixel stills.
With two f/2.0 lenses, each having a 20 megapixel CMOS sensor, both the units eliminate blind spots of a 360 degree camera.
Several features includes of automatic in-camera stitching; time-lapse and loop, shooting modes like Superlapse, built-in stereo microphone, electronic vibration reduction, that takes the shake out of a video after being shot.
The KeyMission 170 priced $399 with a 170 degree superwide angle f/2.8 lens has an 8.3MP CMOS sensor that captures 4K UHD or 1080p HD videos.
As it supports highlight tagging, it makes very easy to create films, that includes a remote control for starting, stopping and adding tags to video; a rear LCD for framing shots, changing the camera settings and playing back video.
The KeyMission 80 is a rugged point and shoot camera priced at $279.95 that has a 25mm f/2.0 lens with an 80 degree angle of view, having a 12MP sensor.
Also it has a 5MP front facing camera with a 22mm f/2.2 lens for selfies, and supports interval timer shooting recording and time-lapse.
All the KeyMissions don’t need a protective housing, as they are shock resistant in comparison to other action cams.

Nikon offers SnapBridge for its 360 and 170 models, which is a smartphone app for getting access to the camera settings, plus it is a software that advance edits on a PC or Mac.
The 360 cameras are very important for future virtual reality and 3D experiences.
360’s and VR are hand in hand for the next few years, says ABI’s Abbruzzese.
